Check NowThe National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has clarified that a notice claiming that a valid Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification and a minimum of 50 percent marks in graduation are essential for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) 2026 appointments is fake and misleading. The fake notice has been circulating on social media since October 10.

A post by NCTE on X states, “The National Council for Teacher Education has NEVER issued this notice. It is completely fake and misleading.” The document further claims that the eligibility conditions have come into effect immediately and that detailed guidelines and frequently asked questions would be published on the NCTE website.
However, the council has warned candidates against relying on the fake notice related to TGT appointments in all schools.
What does the fake NCTE notice claim
The document carries the name of the National Council for Teacher Education and presents itself as an official notification issued by the statutory body. It includes a file number, a date and the title of the NCTE Member Secretary
The notice also shares two important claims:
-
TET qualification: Candidates must have a valid Teacher Eligibility Test certificate issued by the appropriate government to be appointed as TGTs in all schools.
-
Graduation marks: Candidates should have at least 50% marks in graduation from a recognised university in the relevant subject or subject combination.
Since the National Council for Teacher Education has claimed that the notice is fake, all candidates should check eligibility requirements through official recruitment notifications which are issued by the relevant authorities and only refer to the NCTE website, ncte.gov.in, for correct updates.
