NEET 2020: NTA releases notice for 15% AIQ 'State of Eligibility'

Download EBookNew Delhi: National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an official notice for candidates applying for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The official notification clarifies the doubts of candidates regarding filling ‘State of Eligibility’ for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in the application form. As per the notice, candidates can select any state/UT for their admission under AIQ scheme. NTA has started NEET registration from December 2, 2019. Medicos willing to apply for NEET exam on May 3, 2020, must register themselves on or before December 31.

NTA’s clarification on ‘State of Eligibility’
As per the NTA official notification, they have received a number of queries regarding the filling of ‘State of Eligibility’ (for 15% AIQ). In clarification to this, NTA NEET official notice for state of eligibility states that, “it is clarified that all the candidates are eligible for this quota independent of their choice under state of eligibility. Therefore, the candidates can fill in any state/UT (eg. state/UT of their Class XII school, Home state/UT etc.)”
In a simpler manner, students can fill in any state/UT for admission to All India Quota. Candidates must note that no domicile is required for admission to MBBS/BDS seats under 15% AIQ seat. Candidates can check the official notice below.

Eligibility for J&K students
The notice also mentions the state of eligibility under AIQ seats for Jammu & Kashmir candidates. Erstwhile state of J&K (now UT of Kashmir and Ladakh) does not share their 15% seats for All India Quota seats. Therefore, candidates from these UTs are not eligible to participate under AIQ admissions.
In case anyone claims their eligibility, they must submit the self-declaration form, which will be generated automatically with the confirmation page. This self-declaration form should be submitted at the time of counselling.
For admission to state quota seats
The notice also states that the admission to state/UT quota seats will be done by the respective counselling committees on the basis of NEET 2020 scores. The domicile criteria will be considered as per the respective state rules at the time of allotment process.
With two weeks left for closing of registration, candidates are advised to register themselves for NEET exam.
