NEW DELHI: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, or NEET 2021 application form has been released at neet.nta.nic.in. The link to register for the medical exam has been provided below. The authorities have also released the information brochure of NEET 2021 mentioning the details on the syllabus, eligibility criteria, reservation, application fee for NEET 2021 and more. Meanwhile, students on social media platforms are requesting the education minister and the NTA to postpone the NEET UG till October.

NEET 2021 application correction window to be available from August 11

NTA will open the correction window facility for candidates to rectify an error (if any) in their NEET 2021 application form from August 11 to 14 till 2 PM. Since only a few selected fields can be edited through the NEET correction window facility, students are advised to fill their applications carefully.

NEET 2021 exam cities increased to 201

NEET UG 2021 will now be conducted on September 12 in a total of 201 cities (200 in India and 1 in Kuwait). The medical entrance exam was earlier conducted in 198 cities.

NEET 2021 tie-breaking criteria revised

The National Testing Agency has revised the Tie-breaking method for NEET 2021. The method of using age to break the tie has been cancelled. As per the brochure, there are only three factors that will be considered while breaking a tie, which are:

  • A candidate obtaining higher scores in Biology (Botany & Zoology) will be considered first.
  • If the tie still persists, the candidate obtaining higher marks in Chemistry will be considered. 
  • Lastly, if the tie is still there, candidates with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects will be given preference.

As per the information brochure, the NEET application fee 2021 for General (UR) candidates Rs 1500, while, aspirants belonging to General-EWS/ OBC-NCL category have to pay Rs 1400 and SC/ST/PwD/Transgender, Rs 800 to appear for the medical exam.

NEET 2021 application form to be filled in two stages

NTA has started the NEET UG registration at neet.nta.nic.in. In order to ensure that the candidate data is submitted quickly, the NEET UG 2021 application form process has been divided into two sets/phases. 

  • The first set of information needs to be filled up before the last date of submission.
  • The second set of information needs to be filled up by the candidates before the declaration of the NEET 2021 result/ downloading of the scorecard during the period that would be notified by NTA.

NEET 2021 exam pattern revised

As per the updated exam pattern of NEET 2021, there will be 200 questions out of which candidates need to answer 180. The questions will be divided into two sections for each subject - Section A and B. Section A contains 35 questions while Section B will have 15 questions. Out of these 15 questions, candidates can answer any 10, which makes it 180 questions.

The NTA has set up Common Service Centres (CSC) for students who do not have access to the internet. Such aspirants can visit CSCs to complete their NEET 2021 registration 2021. Who can fill NEET UG application form 2021?

Check the NEET 2021 eligibility guidelines set by NTA that a candidate must fulfil in order to register for the medical exam.

  • Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO), and Foreign Nationals. can register for NEET 2021.

  • Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects from a recognized board are eligible to appear for NEET-UG. 

  • Class 12 or equivalent appearing aspirants are also eligible to apply for NEET.

  • Aspirants who have completed a minimum of 17 years of age at the time of admission as of 31 December 2021 can take the exam.

How many seats are granted through NEET 2021?

Through NEET-UG 2021 scores, 83,075 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH and 525 BVSc and AH, 1899 AIIMS and 249 JIPMER seats will be granted. Additionally, from this year forth, the scores of the NEET entrance exam will also be used for Bc Nursing and BSc Life Sciences admissions.

In a notice released on March 12, 2021, the NTA had mentioned that NEET 2021 scores may be used for admission to BSc Nursing and BSc Life Sciences courses. JIPMER, Puducherry and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has notified that B.Sc. Nursing admission will be done through NEET 2021. As per the JIPMER official notification, "the admission to B.Sc. Nursing and allied health science courses at JIPMER for admission year 2021-22 will be based on merit score of NEET UG 2021." No separate entrance exam will be conducted.

The education minister on Twitter said about the release of NEET application form on July 13 from 5 pm. He also said that the COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Dharmendra Pradhan, the new education minister has announced the dates of NEET exam and application form 2021. As per the minister, NEET-UG 2021 is scheduled to be held on September 12 in offline mode. While the application form will be available from 5 pm on July 13, 2021.
