NEET, JEE Main 2020: Supreme Court to hear review plea of 6 states tomorrow

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will be hearing the review plea of 6 chief ministers belonging to opposition-ruled states on September 4 regarding JEE Main and NEET postponement. The review plea will be heard by a bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan. Earlier, the plea for the same was filed on August 28 to oppose the conduct of JEE Main and NEET 2020. However, SC had declined to interfere with the JEE Main and NEET exam dates and had dismissed the plea.
Plea to postpone JEE Main and NEET
On August 28, the opposition leaders had demanded to postpone the JEE NEET 2020 further due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. The plea was filed by Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The order to dismiss the plea was given out by SC.
An Overview of JEE Main 2020
JEE Main 2020 is being conducted from September 1 to 6 in online mode while NEET 2020 is scheduled to be conducted on September 13. National Testing Agency has successfully conducted JEE Main 2020 on September 1, 2 and 3. As per the student reactions, centres were well sanitised and all social distancing measures were followed. Candidates also followed the prescribed dress code for the examination as mentioned in the admit card.
In most of the states candidates faced difficulties in attempting the exam due to transportation and floods in many states. As per the state wise statistics on the first day , many candidates have skipped their exam due to the fear of pandemic.
Earlier students from all over the country protested and raised their voice to postpone the NEET and JEE Main 2020. However keeping the students future and impact on studies Supreme Court gave orders to conduct NEET and JEE Main with well defined SOP.
