NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has notified changes in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2021 counselling scheme that will be implemented from the 2021 counselling process onwards.

“The Counselling for NEET PG is scheduled to commence from January 12, 2022. However, the following changes or modifications in the counselling scheme will be implemented from the academic year 2021-22,” MCC said in the official notification.

NEET PG Counselling 2021: Changes in counselling process

MCC has notified following changes in NEET PG counselling process.

  • Instead of two rounds of All India Quota (AIQ) counselling, now MCC will conduct four rounds of AIQ counselling including: AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-up Round, and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round.
  • No seat will be reverted back to the respective states after completion of round 2 of AIQ.
  • Unfilled Non-residential Indian (NRI) or Muslim minority or Jain minority seats will be converted to Indian National seats after exhaustion of all the eligible NRI or Muslim minority or Jain minority candidates during the Mop-Up Round before reverting it back to the respective Deemed University.
  • Reservation Policy of AIQ for Central Institutes/or University as well as State contributed seats is as follows:
  • (a) Scheduled Caste (SC) - 15%
  • (b) Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 7.5%
  • (c) Other Backward Classes (OBC) - (Non-Creamy Layer) as per the Central OBC list - 27%
  • (d) Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) - as per Central Government norms - 10%
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD)- Horizontal Reservation as per National Medical Commission (NMC) norms - 5%
  • Counselling for PG Diploma of National Board (DNB) seats will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
  • Instead of offline, online Stray vacancy round to be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW for Central University, Institutes, All India Quota, DNB seats.

NEET PG 2021 counselling will begin from January 12, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced today on social media.

On January 7, the Supreme Court today allowed NEET PG Counselling on EWS, OBC reservation in All India Quota (AIQ) seats.
