NEET PG 2024: Supreme Court asks NBE for response on petition seeking answer key, result transparency

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court seeks response from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) in petition seeking disclosure of NEET PG answer keys. A total of 19 aspirants approached the apex court seeking clarity on the normalisation method used for preparing the NEET PG results 2024 and disclose the raw scores obtained by all candidates.
“You want the question paper and answer key for paper 1 and 2, the objection was answer options were wrong,” Chief Justice of India Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud noted, as per the Live Law report. The court will hear the matter coming Friday.
Several students expressed dissatisfaction about the low scores in NEET PG results 2024 and demanded NBE to disclose the answer key . However, the answer key has not been issued yet. “NBEMS shall not entertain any request for sharing any content of the examination including answer keys/answer sheets,” the information bulletin read.

The board has also not announced the NEET PG cut-off marks or disclosed the raw marks secured by the candidates. In a series of last-minute changes, the NBE announced its decision to adopt the normalisation method used by AIIMS to prepare NEET PG results, a day before the exam. The change in exam pattern, including multiple shifts, mandatory time-bound questions, were also introduced after the exam date announcement.
Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will commence the NEET PG counselling 2024 registration for admission into MD, MS, PG diploma courses, and other NBEMS diploma courses next week. The petitioners had also sought the court to direct the MCC to put the counselling on hold till they get a clarity on results. They also raised questions on transparency of the exam and urged the top court to make it mandatory to disclose answer key and raw scores from this year.
