NEET PG 2026 Counselling: Previous year cut-offs, closing ranks for MD, MS courses at deemed universities

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 counselling recorded the highest closing rank across deemed universities at 16449 for neurosurgery at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai and 230087 for physiology at ACS Medical College and Hospital, Chennai. 

The total number of NEET PG seats for 2026-27 session has increased by 12.1% from 52,173 last year to 58,466 postgraduate medical seats for the current academic year.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) added 6,294 new postgraduate medical seats for this year.

Meanwhile, the number of medical colleges have also been increased from 603 to 638, an expansion in the admission opportunities for candidates this year.

As per the previous year’s data, for general medicine, the highest closing rank was 117507 at Vels Medical College and Hospital, Tiruvallur. For dermatology, it was 122032 at the same medical institution, and 134769 for radio diagnosis. 

For paediatrics programme at Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkar, the highest closing rank was 131231, and 129332 for obstetrics and gynaecology at Sree Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, Puducherry. 

For general surgery, the closing rank at Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkur, was 154703.

NEET PG 2025 cut-offs for deemed universities

Here are the closing ranks for MD, MS admissions for general-category candidates at some of deemed medical institutions. 

The MCC conducts NEET PG counselling for 50% of All India Quota (AIQ) seats and for seats in deemed universities.
