NEET PG Counselling 2021: Doctors’ Association writes to CJI to expedite counselling

NEW DELHI: The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has written to the Chief Justice of India to expedite NEET PG counselling 2021 process.

In its letter, the doctors’ association said that NEET PG 2021 was supposed to be conducted in April 2021 but held five months later, in September 2021 finally. As a result of this delay, NEET PG aspirants have wasted nearly an year and the junior residents have burnt-out.

“Delay in the counselling process is injustice to the supreme authorities towards hardworking and burnt-out resident doctors as well as to the aspiring NEET PG candidates waiting to start their specialization,” the association argued in the letter.

FAIMA urged the CJI to quicken the counselling process and said: “With all due respect, on behalf of all the NEET PG aspirants who are awaiting counselling, we would like to request you to fast track the judgement on EWS-OBC reservation in All India Quota and expedite the counselling and admission process for the session 2021-22.”

The association also requested the Supreme Court of India to direct the concerned authorities to complete the NEET PG 2021 admission process by December 31.

NEET-PG counselling registration for round one was to begin from October 25, however, candidates were informed by MCC that the counselling will begin after the clarification is sought from the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court had adjourned to November 16 a batch of pleas challenging the MCC July 29 notice providing 27% reservation for OBC and 10% for EWS category in the NEET admissions for medical courses.
