NEW DELHI: The alleged mastermind behind the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 cheating scam, ‘Dr PK’ alias Prem Kumar was arrested today by the Uttar Pradesh police, as per various media reports. NEET 2021 was conducted on September 12 and reports on NEET paper leak, impersonation started coming to light immediately after the medical entrance exam concluded.

PK, a native of Bihar, used to charge Rs 30 to Rs 40 lakh for someone else to solve the NEET entrance exam on behalf of a candidate. He started the solvers’ gang around six years ago and it was also found that this gang used to leak papers of various competitive exams apart from NEET.

As per reports, Prem Kumar posed as a doctor and had settled in Patna after his father’s retirement. Ritesh, his close aide, was also held.

PK was arrested a few hours after the announcement of Rs 1 lakh on him, the TOI reported. The local court had also issued a non-bailable warrant.

16 candidates out of the 25 applicants who were in touch with the gang appeared for the NEET exam 2021. However, the NTA along with the NEET 2021 result declaration announced that the results of 15 candidates have been cancelled as they were found to be using unfair means in the exam.

Couple of days after the NEET 2021 exam, the police arrested 18-year-old candidate Dineshwari Kumari along with invigilator Ram Singh, in-charge of exam centre's administration unit Mukesh, Dineshwari's uncle and four others were also nabbed in connection with the case.

As per reports, Dineshwari's uncle was present outside the exam centre with Rs. 10 lakh in cash which was supposed to be given to the accused who were helping the candidate.

Apart from this, the CBI booked a Maharashtra-based coaching institute for alleged involvement in cheating and found that the accused impersonated as students and appeared for the medical entrance examination on September 23. The proxies took Rs 50 lakh per candidate to clear the examination.

The NEET question paper was leaked after a youth took a photo using a mobile phone and sent it to two others in Sikar. The question papers have been found in his mobile and Jaipur Police has arrested 8 people including a girl from the examination centre in Rajasthan Institute of Engineering and Technology.
