NEW DELHI: Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will be answering queries related to the new National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 on September 1. The education minister has invited questions from various stakeholders regarding the NEP.
Pokhriyal’s session on NEP also coincides with the beginning of the level engineering entrance test, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. The JEE Main is scheduled to be held over September 1-6. So far, most queries and comments in response to Ramesh Pokhriyal's posts are related to this exams and not the NEP 2020.
Students have been demanding postponement of the examination, and they also approached the Supreme Court in this regard, where their PIL was dismissed by the apex court.
Since then the students have taken to social media to raise their concern over conducting the JEE Main and NEET 2020 when the cases of COVID-19 infection is at its all-time high in the country.
The students have also written to the education minister, Prime Minister to postpone the two exams to December.
However, the test conducting agency, NTA has assured that all necessary SOP (standard operating procedure) will be followed during the conduct of NEET and JEE Main all over the country.
Meanwhile, six state governments have approached the Supreme Court demanding postponement of the exams.
On the other-hand, Pokhriyal has argued that further postponement of NEET and JEE will be in the interest of students.
Inviting queries for the NEP discussion he tweeted: “A call to all teachers & principals, today is the last day to submit your suggestions that can help us in better/smooth implementation of #NEP2020. Share with us your incredible ideas & help us create a better future for #NewIndia.”
