As per the UK Government’s new visa rules announced on July 17, 2023, international students will not be able to switch out of the student route into work routes before their studies have been complete.
The minister of external affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in a reply to a question informed the Lok Sabha said that the number of Indian students, excluding dependents, who have gone to the UK for studies was 139,539 in 2022.
