Less than 50% of students pass NIOS Class 12 exam held last year: Govt tells Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI: The minister of state for ministry of education, Annapurna Devi, told the Lok Sabha today that 48 percent of students who appeared in National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Class 12 exams held in October 2022 were declared pass.
Responding to a question on how many students enrolled, appeared and cleared the NIOS Class 10, 12 exams, the minister said 77,836 students registered for Class 10 and 1,23,644 for Class 12.
Out of the total registered students, only 1,060 did not appear for Class 10 NIOS exam and 25 students missed Class 12 examination.
As per the NIOS Class 10, 12 results for exam held in October 2022, 59,371 out of 1,23,619 cleared Class 12 exam and recorded a pass percentage of 48%. Whereas 57% were declared pass in NIOS Class 10 exam 2022, the minister said.

The minister further informed that 4,438 students in Class 10 and 4,749 candidates in Class 12 who enrolled from other boards cleared NIOS exams in the first run.
On January 20, 2023, NIOS result for secondary Class 10 and senior secondary Class 12 exam conducted in October-November 2022 was released on the NIOS login at the official site, results.nios.ac.in. Students were allowed to request for correction within 30 days from the date of result declaration.
