NLSIU Bangalore revises seat matrix for BA LLB and LLM programmes

NEW DELHI: National Law School of India University, Bangalore has published the revised seat matrix for 5-year integrated BA LLB and LLM programmes. Total seats under BA LLB programme have been increased from 80 to 120. The LLM programme will have an intake of 50 seats.

The National Law School of India (Amendment) Act, 2020 enacted by the state government on July 27 has also introduced a new category of institutional preference namely, “Karnataka Students”.

Students who have studied for at least 10 years in a recognized institution in Karnataka can apply under the category of “Karnataka Students”.

Students who are eligible for applying under the new category can update their eligibility criteria by August 17.

Benefits

Students applying under the said category will be preferred for admission for up to 25 % of the total seats available in BA LLB and LLM programmes of the university.

The university is also offering a 5 % concession to the “Karanatka Students” on category wise merit cut off score.

For example, if all India general category merit cut off is 100, then the cutoff for general category candidates applying under the “Karnataka Students” category will be 95 marks. The 5 per cent concession will also be extended to other categories such as SC, ST and PWD.

It may be noted that the university’s recent decision of giving 25 % domicile reservation for students who have studied in the state for 10 years has been challenged in the High Court of Karnataka. So, the inclusion of the new category will be subject to the orders of Karnataka HC in the ongoing litigation.
