NMMSS scholarships 2022: Selected students from economically weaker sections will be awarded Rs 12,000 per annum.
NEW DELHI: The ministry of education has announced the last date to apply for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship scheme (NMMSS) for 2022-23. NMMSS scholarships are awarded to one lakh selected students from Class 9. Eligible students will be able to apply till October 31, 2022.
One lakh fresh scholarships are awarded to selected students from Class 9 every year and their continuation or renewal in Classes 10 to 12 for students studying in state government, government-aided and local body schools. The students will get an amount of Rs 12,000 per annum under the NMMSS scholarship.
The ‘National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme’ was introduced to encourage meritorious students who belong to economically weaker sections to continue secondary education and decrease overall drop-out rates.

Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs 3,50,000 per annum are eligible to avail the NMMSS scholarships. The students must have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class 7 examination for appearing in the selection test for award of scholarship. Students belonging to SC, ST category should have secured 50% marks in the qualifying exam.
Eligible students will be able to apply for NMMSS scholarship at the National Scholarship Portal- scholarships.gov.in. NMMSS scholarships are disbursed directly into the bank accounts of selected students by electronic transfer through Public Financial Management System (PFMS) following DBT mode.
The students will have to go through two levels of verification- L1 is the Institute Nodal Officer (INO) Level and L2 is District Nodal Officer (DNO) level. The last dates for INO L1 and DNO L2 verification are November 15 and November 30, 2022 respectively.
