NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday clarified that it has not yet decided on the schedule for remaining board exams for Classes 10 and 12.

The clarification was issued amid rampant speculation regarding Class 10 board exams, the CBSE said.

The CBSE reiterated an older circular that said that 10 days prior notice will be given to students before a decision on the board examinations is taken.

The clarification comes a day after the Delhi government had requested the Ministry of Human Resource Development to cancel the remaining board exams for Classes 10 and 12.

No decision on board

The CBSE in the statement said:” Recently there has been a lot of speculation regarding 10th CBSE Board exams. It is reiterated that the board's decision to take board exams for 29 subjects of class 10 and 12, stands the same as mentioned in a circular dated April 1, 2020.”

In the circular, the board said that “at this stage, it is difficult for the board to decide and announce the new schedule for examinations”.

The circular released on April 1 said that the board will make a decision on Class 10 and Class 12 exams “ by undertaking extensive consultation with higher education authorities and by keeping all aspects related to entrance exams, admissions dates, etc. in mind”.

“In this context, it is further informed that the Board will give notice of about 10 days to all stakeholders before starting the board examinations,” the circular read.
