NEW DELHI: Keeping in view of the central government's guidelines to vaccinate all teachers before Teachers’ Day on September 5, the Odisha government has released SOPs for the launch of a special Covid-19 vaccination campaign for teachers and non-teaching staff of schools across the state, according to an Odisha TV report.
The state health department of Odisha wrote to all district collectors, commissioners in municipal corporations, CDMs, and public health officers (PHOs) asking them to prioritize the vaccination of teachers, non-teaching staff of both government and private schools, as per the report.
The state government has laid down a set of guidelines for monitoring and follow-up action for the special vaccination campaign. The report further added that the vaccination status of all teaching and non-teaching staff should be compiled at district level. These data will be triangulated with the Unified District Information System for Education database to know the vaccination status and due beneficiaries.
The CDM, PHO and district level officers are responsible for micro-planning of the campaign.
The government has already allowed the resumption of classroom teaching in schools across the state for students of class 9. The Odisha government has decided to resume physical classes for standard 9 students in special schools across the state following a decline in COVID-19 cases.
