OTET 2026 postponed to July 5 after candidates raise concerns over clash with OSSSC examination

Following protests over overlapping exam dates, BSE Odisha has rescheduled OTET 2026 to July 5, while OSSSC recruitment examination remains on June 28
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) has been postponed to July 5 following protests by a section of candidates against overlapping dates of two exams, officials said on Tuesday. The OTET conducted by the Board of Secondary Education was scheduled to be held on June 28. On the same day, examination of the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) for recruitment to various posts has been scheduled, they said.
Considering the aspirants' concerns, the BSE has rescheduled the OTET to July 5, the officials said. As per the revised schedule, the OTET will be held in two sittings – 9 am to 11.30 am (Paper-1) and 2 pm to 4.30 pm (Paper-2). The OSSSC examination had been originally scheduled for June 20, but was postponed to June 28 due to administrative reasons, they added.
OTET 2026: Exam pattern
The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2026 consists of two papers—Paper I for candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V and Paper II for those seeking to teach Classes VI to VIII. Each paper contains 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each, making a total of 150 marks. The duration of each paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Candidates belonging to the General category must secure 60% or more marks to qualify, while those from SC, ST, SEBC and PwD categories need 50% or more marks to be considered OTET qualified.
OSSSC 2026: Pattern
The Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) Combined Recruitment Examination (CRE) 2026 is conducted in objective (MCQ) format. The written examination consists of 100 questions carrying 100 marks and is held for a duration of 90 minutes. Candidates are awarded one mark for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect response.
