NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Patents and Designs interview (phase 3) for the post of examiner from April 1 in offline mode. The interview process will be continued for 25 days. Candidates will be invited for interviews based on five times the number vacancy.
The NTA is conducting the patents and designs exam to recruit 553 examiners in the patent office. Candidates who qualify the patents and designs mains examination (papers 1, 2) will be invited for the interview.
The patents and designs preliminary exam (phase 1) was held on December 21 in computer-based test (CBT) mode. A total of 89,657 candidates had appeared for the preliminary exam. The patents and designs mains examination (paper 1 and paper 2) in phase 2 was conducted from January 25 to February 5.
As per the official notice, the evaluation of descriptive answer booklets for mains paper 2 is underway. After completion of the evaluation process, the results of the patents and designs mains exam (papers 1,2) will be announced by the third week of March 2024.

The selection process for the post of Examiner of Patents and Designs will comprise three phases including the preliminary examination which carries 150 marks, the main examination carries 400 marks and the interview which carries 100 marks.
The final merit list of qualified candidates will be compiled by assigning 80% weightage to the cumulative marks obtained in paper 1 and paper 2 of the main examination, and 20% weightage to the marks obtained in the interview.
