PM Modi to attend DU's centenary valedictory ceremony as chief guest today

Download NowNEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be part of the closing ceremony of Delhi University's centenary celebrations today, June 30. At the event, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Delhi University Computer Centre, the faculty of technology building and the academic block along with the launch of three coffee table books. Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be the guest of honour at the event.

The programme is likely to be held from 11 AM to 1 PM. It will be live-streamed in all Delhi University colleges through screens set up in staff rooms, libraries and auditoriums to allow faculty and students to watch the event remotely.
Delhi University will also host an exhibition today featuring student startups' creations, including a working model of a Mars rover, semiconductors and sustainable bamboo products. Miranda House, Hindu College, Kirori Mal College, and Ramjas College are some of the colleges that have been allocated stalls in the exhibition.
Prior to the Prime Minister's visit, the All India Students Association (AISA) raised a series of questions and expressed their desire for answers from PM Modi. The student association stuck leaflets yesterday within and around the Delhi University campus to highlight their concerns.

Since last year, Delhi University has been observing its centenary celebrations, marking 100 years of its establishment. On May 1, 2022 the university organized an inaugural ceremony to mark the university's foundation day and initiate its centenary celebration. The event was attended by Venkaiah Naidu, former Vice President as the chief guest, along with Dharmendra Pradhan as the guest of honour.
Throughout the year, Delhi University planned a series of activities and initiatives to commemorate its centenary. These encompassed several significant projects such as the construction of new hostels and buildings, as well as the introduction of new courses to enhance educational offerings.

Various events were organized, including the creation of documentaries highlighting the university's rich history and heritage and the presentation of light and sound shows. Additionally, the establishment of DU studio, along with the organization of literary festivals, book fairs, seminars, conferences, workshops, and international lecture series contributed to the centenary celebrations.
