Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi announced the setting up of a chair at university level for the study of the Bible during a state-level event related to Christmas.

He also said that due representation will be given to the Christian community in the Punjab state government boards. The announcement was made at a state-level function to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Jesus Christ at Gurdaspur.

“The problem of graveyards will be resolved and a community hall would be established in every district of Punjab”, Channi said in his tweet. The community hall can be used by the Christian community to hold functions, including religious functions like Christmas. celebration.

According to the Indian Express report, “Channi reached the location to attend the function at 12 noon. But very few people attended the function. He left the place and returned later, but the gathering was not huge.”

Punjab CM had promised to address the graveyard issue raised by the Christian community in the districts with a considerable Christian population. “Land for graveyards would be provided where there is a sizable population of Christians,” Channi reportedly said.
