NEW DELHI: The Rajasthan Government on Monday announced that students of Classes 6 and 7 will be promoted without examination. The students will be promoted based on the Smile, Smile 2 and Aao Ghar programmes launched by the state government to ensure continuity in study.

Rajasthan education minister Govind Singh Dotasara said: “Taking a major decision in the interest of the students, the Education Department has decided to promote the students of Classes 6 and 7.”

Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), in a notice, said: “According to the provision of annual examination for the classes other than the board classes (Class 8, 10 and 12) , students continuing study in the same school registered in Class 6 and 7 in 2020-21, according to the assessment done through Smile, Smile 2 and Aao Ghar programme, will be promoted from April 15 to the next class. No examination will be conducted for this.”

With the rising number of COVID-19 cases, states have been shutting down schools, postponing board exams and promoting students of other classes. Maharashtra, today, postponed the board exams for Classes 10 and 12.
