A National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 aspirant Shrishti Dubey who suffered serious injuries in a road accident days before the examination was able to appear for the medical entrance test on June 21 after the National Testing Agency (NTA) made special arrangements at her examination centre. Shrishti met with a major road accident on June 14, a week before the examination. The accident left her with nine broken ribs and severe injuries to her lungs. She subsequently underwent a major vascular surgery and was placed on artificial ventilation. Although she is now extubated and recovering, she remained determined to take the NEET examination.

According to information shared by the NTA, she is scheduled to appear for the examination at Binodini Girls High School, Dhakuria.

Father sought support from NTA

Shrishti's father informed the NTA about her medical condition and requested assistance so that she could appear for the examination despite her injuries. Re-NEET Answer Key 2026 LIVE

He stated that ILS Hospital would provide the required medical support, including doctors, paramedics and other necessary arrangements. He also requested that the examination centre provide a suitable seating arrangement on the ground floor, including a chair and table, considering her condition.

Separate room and ambulance arranged

Following the request, the NTA stepped in and made special arrangements for the candidate at the examination centre. The agency provided a separate examination room, ensured medical support at the venue, and kept an ambulance on standby during the examination to facilitate her participation in the test.

The NTA said that despite suffering nine broken ribs, undergoing surgery and recovering with oxygen support, Shrishti chose to appear for NEET UG 2026. The agency added that arrangements had been made to support her during the examination.

Education Minister speaks to family

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also spoke with Shrishti's parents on the day of the examination. Her parents expressed gratitude to both the NTA and the Education Minister for the support extended to their daughter, which enabled her to appear for the examination despite her medical condition.

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted on June 21 across examination centres in India and abroad under enhanced security and monitoring arrangements.
