S Chand offers textbooks with integrated Google Lens tools for easy explanations, solutions

S Chand, a textbook publisher in India, has partnered up with Google to integrate the Google Lens feature in textbooks. This move will help students all over the country to interact better with educational content.

This collaboration between S Chand and Google Lens will lead to an “evolution of education”. It will ensure that learning is made to be “more innovative, easier, and more effective” for students.

By scanning the S Chand textbooks, students will be able to unlock a range of interactive features like:

• Access to a library of explanation videos that help students to understand different subjects.
• Step-by-step solutions for mathematical problems, so they can understand the methodology.
• Translation of the content in more than 100 languages, to bypass language barriers.
• Easy text movement from physical textbooks to a digital medium.

According to the official statement, many students in the country struggle with a complex curriculum, and no academic resources or tutors. With self-learning on the rise, this initiative makes it possible for learners to engage with concepts by themselves, with Google Lens tools.

Google Lens for education

Saurabh Mital, chief financial officer (CFO) of S Chand, talked about a tenth-grader from Uttar Pradesh, who used Google Lens in S Chand textbooks to understand algebra solutions when she did not have access to a tutor. He also talked of Amit, a ninth-grader from Maharashtra, who used Google Lens to translate his English textbook to Marathi for better understanding.

The S Chand-Google Lens initiative has already been implemented in more than 300 textbook titles, reaching five million students.

Himanshu Gupta, managing director of S Chand, said, “By integrating this powerful technology into our textbooks, we are equipping students with digital tools that complement traditional learning methods and enhance their academic journey.”

According to the Internet and Mobile Association of India (AIMAI), India has more than 750 million smartphone users , which could increase up to 1 billion by 2025. This shows that smartphones are increasingly becoming a part of daily life, and Google Lens tools in textbooks could give students a handy and efficient solution to their academic queries.
