NEW DELHI, December 13, 2018 : Union HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar at the inaugural of ‘KALA Utsav (Festival of Arts)’ proposed to reduce the school syllabus to half to provide students with sufficient time to develop their talent. He also stated that students nowadays are overburdened with academic studies especially class VIII onwards that they are left with no time to pursue and nurture their talent.
Earlier this year government had also asked schools to reduce the weight of school bags by not giving homework to class 1, 2 students. Moreover, as per the reports, the ministry has also decided to reduce the NCERT syllabus by half from next academic session which right now is more than what is studied by a student in B.Sc., B.Com. or B.A. This would leave them time to get involved in activities which would help in their overall skill development.
This festival of KALA UTSAV is a national event wherein more than 370 children from all the states and union territories except Karnataka come up to show their talents by participating in different competitions like instrumental music, vocal music, painting and dance.
Kala UTSAV National Competition was initiated in the year 2015 with the vision to promote arts in education by showcasing and nurturing different artistic talents of school students wherein children with special needs also get an opportunity to display their talents.
