Sitare University, SRMU collaborate to begin sessions for first batch of underprivileged students

The collaboration aims to give a platform to the inaugural batch of 27 selected underprivileged students based on their JEE Main scores.
NEW DELHI: In a first, Sitare University collaborates with Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University (SRM) Lucknow to provide education in computer science and technology to underprivileged students from across India.
The university selected 27 students to become the inaugural batch of 2022-26. These underprivileged students were selected based on their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains scores and a thorough background check. The first batch includes a Jharkhand student who achieved the maximum JEE Mains score of 99.16 percent, students from Bihar, West Bengal, Haryana, Odisha among other states.
All the selected students received a scholarship by Sitare Foundation that covers their tuition, lodging, boarding and books fee. Sitare university is offering a four-year degree in bachelor of technology in computer science to its students. The degree covers five different specialized majors across artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, computer systems, human-computer interactions, data science, and computer security. Sitare University aims to train students with academic and industry internship programmes with leading companies and develop a skillset to make its students industry ready.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by Vishal Sikka, former CEO Infosys. Several startup founders shared their industry insights about need for high quality computer science workforce. Startups including Beans.ai, Chalo, Goqii, nCore Games, Tracxn, and Trademo participated in the inaugural ceremony.
During his address, Sitare University, Founder, Amit Singhal, said: “Education is the only reliable path out of poverty. In this technology led world, a Computer Science education has become one of the most coveted degrees. Sitare University aims to empower bright underprivileged minds of our country by giving them world class Computer Science undergraduate education. For India to realize its full potential in this new era of technology, we require a strong base of world class computer scientists, and Sitare University is a step towards fulfilling this need, alongside improving numerous underprivileged lives by pulling them out of poverty.”
