SPPU alleges that an official from within the university generated a fake marksheet and degree certificate for a student; the committee will submit reports, after which legal action will be taken
The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has received a complaint regarding the certificates and degree of a specific student, following which the SPPU has formed an internal enquiry committee to probe the complaint.
Allegedly, SPPU said in its statement that an employee from within the university generated a fake marksheet and degree certificate.
The university’s complaint alleged that forged mark sheets, degree certificates, and other documents were created in the name of SPPU for the student. Further, it also mentions that the affected student was subjected to financial fraud in connection with this matter.
According to Pune Times Mirror report, the controversy arose over allegations that a student's father had paid Rs 70,000 to a university official to obtain a degree certificate purportedly associated with Wadia College.
However, doubts regarding the authenticity of the document brought the matter under the scrutiny of the university administration.

The SPPU administration has taken a very serious view of this issue. Following the directions of the SPPU vice-chancellor, a fact-finding committee has been constituted to conduct a thorough inquiry into all aspects of the case.
“Various reports regarding this matter are currently circulating in the media; this public notice is being issued to clarify the facts and provide an accurate account of the situation,” the SPPU statement said.
Upon receiving the committee's report, necessary administrative and legal actions will be initiated based on its findings and recommendations.
