SRM Institute of Science and Technology offers 300 new scholarships

Scholarship Application: The last date is September 18. The scholarship is open to students of Perambalur constituency, Tamil Nadu.
NEW DELHI: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, is offering scholarships to 300 students from the Perambalur parliamentary constituency in Tamil Nadu, according to a statement issued by SRMIST.
Students from Perambalur, who wish to pursue engineering and technology, science and humanities, agricultural sciences, management, health sciences, hotel management or other courses can apply. Eligible students need to submit their applications on or before September 18 to director (admissions), SRM Nagar, Potheri, Chengalpattu District - 603203. The application forms can be downloaded from the official website.
In the recently-released NIRF ranking 2021 -- the education ministry’s ranking of higher educational institutions -- SRMIST Chennai was placed at 30 in the NIRF university rankings 2021 and at 34 in the NIRF ranking 2021 engineering . In the overall NIRF ranking, it stood at 53.
Scholarships: 300 students from EWS families
Perambalur’s member of Parliament and SRMIST’s founder Chancellor, TR Paarivendhar said: "This is part of my promise to the people of Perambalur constituency. For the last two years, SRMIST had given free education to 600 students. This year too I will keep up my election promise and provide free education to 300 students from my constituency."
The 300 students selected from economically weaker sections of Perambalur constituency will be given free education at SRM group of institutions. The scheme will cover tuition fees, and will be renewed on the basis of their academic performance. Hostel facilities will not be provided because of COVID-19.
In order to help these students, SRM group will make education at private universities beneficial to those from economically backward sections. Paarivendhar said: “Students should utilize this opportunity to pursue higher studies. He assured that deserving students would get suitable placements. The selection process for this scholarship will be done based on merit and the student's economic background.”
The institute came up with this initiative to help the economically weaker sections of Perambalur Constituency by providing them “Good and quality education” and “Better infrastructure facilities.”
