SSC CPO Notification 2026 Out: Applications open for 1,871 Delhi Police, CAPF SI posts; exam pattern revised

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC CPO notification 2026 for recruitment to Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The SSC CPO 2026 application process has started today, September 10, and eligible candidates can submit the online application form till September 30, 2026, at 11 pm.
The SSC CPO 2026 recruitment covers Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police, Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs and Sub-Inspector (Fire) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
SSC CPO 2026 vacancy
The SSC CPO 2026 recruitment notification includes vacancies for both male and female candidates in Delhi Police and CAPFs.
As per the SSC CPO vacancy, for the Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police, there are 205 vacancies for male candidates and 112 vacancies for female candidates, taking the total to 317 posts.
For Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs, the vacancy details include posts in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), CISF and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The notification lists 1,320 vacancies. Of these, 1,173 are for male candidates and 147 are for female candidates.
The recruitment also includes 234 Sub-Inspector (Fire) posts in CISF, all for male candidates.
SSC CPO 2026: Important dates
Candidates can pay the online application fee till October 1, 2026, at 11 pm. The application form correction window will be open from October 8 to October 10, 2026, till 11 pm. The date for the SSC CPO computer-based examination will be announced later. Check the complete schedule in the table below

SSC CPO 2026 salary
According to the SSC CPO salary, the post of Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs carries a salary in Pay Level 6, with a pay scale of Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400. The post is classified as Group B, Non-Gazetted and Non-Ministerial.
The Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police also carries a Level 6 pay scale of Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400 and is classified as a Group C post.
The Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF carries the same Level 6 pay scale of Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400 and is classified as Group B, Non-Gazetted and Non-Ministerial.
SSC CPO Exam Pattern 2026: Revised
The SSC CPO 2026 exam pattern has been significantly revised compared with last year. Paper-I will now comprise 100 questions carrying 100 marks, compared with 200 questions for 200 marks in 2025. The duration has also been reduced from two hours to one hour, with a 15-minute sectional timer for each section.
Paper-II has also been restructured. Unlike the 2025 exam, which had 200 questions from English Language and Comprehension for 200 marks, the 2026 paper will include General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. It will have 160 questions carrying 320 marks and will be conducted for one hour, with a 20-minute sectional timer for each section.
