SSC offers optional Aadhaar-authentication for recruitment exams to prevent impersonation

Download NowThe Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will offer Aadhaar-authentication as an optional facility at key stages of the recruitment exams. Aadhaar-based authentication will be implemented in addition to the traditional methods such as photograph and biometric verification to ensure fairness and to prevent impersonation.

The commission said that this policy will offer a more robust mechanism that enhances convenience for genuine candidates.
The optional facility will include — Aadhaar OTP-based authentication at the time of One Time Registration (OTR); Aadhaar face authentication during registration; Aadhaar fingerprint or iris-based biometric authentication at the time of appearing in exam; Aadhaar authentication during physical efficiency or standard tests or medical examinations; and during document verification and final joining.
It said that those candidates who opt for Aadhaar authentication will have to just complete fewer procedural checks. Additionally, candidates do not have to fear disqualification due to discrepancies in photograph and signature uploaded on the portal, it said. “They will also be allowed entry to the examination venue closer to the gate closing time, as physical verification formalities will be minimal,” it added.

Option to not provide Aadhaar details
Candidates will have the option not to provide Aadhaar details. Such candidates will have to upload the relevant documents for - name, father’s name, gender, date of birth, address, and photograph. The following “recent and clear” documents will be considered valid.
- PAN card,
- Passport,
- Voter ID,
- Driving License,
- Birth Certificate,
- School Certificates,
- Utility Bills,
- Bank Passbook,
- Rent Agreement, and
- A recent passport-sized photograph.
