2 Indian universities excel in debut THE Online Learning Rankings 2024

THE OLR 2024: OP Jindal Global University, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies secured gold status. 7 ranked in pilot edition.
NEW DELHI : O P Jindal Global University (JGU) is the best university in India for pursuing online education according to the debut edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) Online Learning Rankings (OLR) 2024. The private university has been awarded gold in THE rankings 2024. Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies is another university which has grabbed the gold status.
While JGU has obtained the best scores in outcomes parameter, Manav Rachna is the only university which has scored above 60 in all four aspects.
A total of 11 universities have ranked in the gold category globally including three from the United States (US), two from the United Kingdom (UK), two from India, and one each from Russia, Hungary, New Zealand, and Australia.
Fourteen universities across the world are in the silver category and 31 in bronze. 64 institutions have been given reporter status as they didn’t meet the requirements.

THE used 17 metrics categorised into four pillars:
- Resources: It measures the staff and resources devoted to online learning
- Engagement: It has six metrics, including student survey responses to compare the level of student engagement
- Outcomes: It measures student progression and whether they would recommend it to others
- Environment: It tracks inclusion, diversity and support levels.
