A total of 54,378 candidates qualified JEE Advanced 2025 and have become eligible to participate in the JoSAA counselling 2025 held for seat allotment in IITs. Compared to last year, the number of qualified candidates has increased by 12.7%. The exam also saw higher participation in comparison to last year.
1,87,223 candidates were eligible to sit for JEE Advanced. Among them, 1,80,422 candidates wrote the exam held by IIT Kanpur and 54,378 were declared qualified. As per the JEE Advanced cut-off 2025 , the minimum qualifying marks is 76 for general category, 66 for OBC-NCL and EWS, and 37 for SC and ST.
The total number of engineering seats in IITs - 17,760 - may increase, as some IITs have introduced new BTech courses through JEE Advanced rank. In the latest announcement, IIT Jammu has launched BTech Engineering Physics with focus on quantum and nano technology. Admission to the 25 seats offered for BTech Engineering Physics will be filled through JoSAA counselling based on JEE Advanced rank 2025.
BTech Computer Science Engineering (BTech CSE) has remained the most popular choice of students aspiring to study in IITs. The top engineering colleges also offer civil engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and communication engineering. Several IITs also offer new-generation courses such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and machine learning (ML) .
