UGC asks universities, colleges to make 'Har Ghar Tiranga' programme successful

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all the vice-chancellors of universities and principals of the colleges to promote the "Har Ghar Tiranga" programme among the faculty members, students and stakeholders to encourage them to hoist the Indian National Flag at their houses from August 13 to 15, 2022, as India celebrates its independence day. The Har Ghar Tiranga programme is being held under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahatsov celebrations.

UGC directed the vice-chancellors and principals to conduct programmes such as essay competitions, drawing competitions and singing competitions in universities and colleges a week before "Independence Week", and to organise "Nukkad Nataks, Prabhat Pheries", presentations etc in higher education institutions with a call to action on buying or gifting a flag. Flags can be purchased or gifted from the website -- harghartiralrga.com, UGC said in a letter. "It is mandatory to obey the 'Flag code I of lndia' 2002 (enclosed), to govern the usage of the National flag by the citizens," UGC said.

UGC also asked the educational institutions to upload their participatory videos of "Har Ghar Tiranga" programme on social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. It also asked to share the activity plan for the events on the UGC University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP) by July 25, 2022.
