UGC forms five zonal committees for NEP 2020 implementation
The western zone committee will hold a conference on National Education Policy 2020 implementation on October 26.

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has formed five zonal committees to implement the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). The five committees -- northern, northeastern and eastern, western, southern and central zones – include vice-chancellors of central, state, private and deemed to be universities.
To implement the full vision of NEP 202, every zonal committee will conduct a meeting. “In this regard the first conference on the implementation of National Education policy 2O2O will be held by the Western Zone on October 26 by the Maharaj Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat,” the UGC said.
It added that since the conference is of very high relevance and significance for all the stakeholders, the universities and colleges are requested to join the live streaming of the conference for the benefit of faculty, students, and staff.

The meeting will be held from 9 AM to 5 PM on Thursday. The western zone Vice-chancellors conference shall be streamed live on the following social media, Vande Gujarat Channel No. 1, facebook.com/TheMSUBaroda and conferencewz.gujgov.edu.in.

The UGC said, “The decision to form the zonal committees has been taken to fulfil the vision of the NEP 2020 and ensure that the benefits reach a large section of the aspirational youth in a time-bound manner. In order to facilitate the universities to develop a road map for the effective implementation of significant initiatives this decision was taken.”
The NEP 2020 is founded on the five guiding pillars -- access, equity, quality, affordability and accountability. It aims to prepare youth to meet the diverse national and global challenges of the present and the future.
