UGC NET 2018 on July 8; Application window opens on March 6

New Delhi, March 5: UGC NET will be held on July 8, 2018, as per an official notification published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The application form can be filled online beginning March 6, 2018. The University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) July 2018 is being announced for the candidates applying for either of or both the positions– Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship across Indian Universities and colleges for 100 subjects.

Candidates can fill the application till April 6, 2018, which is also the last date to submit the form.
The examination will be held in 91 cities of India.

Who are eligible?
Candidates obtaining at least 55 per cent of marks (50% marks for OBC-Non Creamy Layer/SC/ST/PwD category candidates) in an aggregate of the subjects studied in Master’s Degree or equivalent postgraduate degree programme. The degree programme should be recognized by UGC.

Further, the candidate applying for JRF should not be more than 30 years of age as on July 1, 2018. Moreover, there will be a five years relaxation offered to the candidates belonging to reserved category.

However, there is no upper age cap for those applying for Assistant Professor.

Fees
The applicants will have to remit an application-cum-examination fee of Rs. 1000 for UGC NET 2018. Those belonging to OBC–NCL category will need to pay Rs. 500 and the application fee is Rs. 250 for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender category candidates.
The application fees can be paid in online mode using Debit Card/Credit Card payment options. Those interested in remitting the fees offline can do so using the e-challan payment option of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI Bank.

UGC NET 2018 Scheme    
The July 8th CBSE administered National Eligibility Test for UGC will have two papers comprising objective type questions. The first paper will be of one hour beginning at 9:30 am, while the second paper starting at 11:00 am will be held for two hours.

The Paper I will have 50 objective-type questions of 2 marks each, designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.

The Paper II will have 100 questions of 2 marks each. The questions will be based on the subject interest of the UGC NET 2018 applicant.
