NEW DELHI: National Testing Agency (NTA) issues a notice regarding the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Examination (UGC NET) History paper leak controversy denying all allegations.

NTA advises the public and stakeholders to beware of fake tweets and youtube video about the leak of UGC-NET History paper held on October 10, 2022. The agency denies all allegations and clarified that was indeed no leak of the question paper. Further, NTA also stated that the the format of the 'leaked' question paper circulating on social media is well after the date the exam was conducted and that is not the same as the format that was delivered to the students.

The Student Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students Association (AISA) protested and demanded removal of NTA's contract to conduct examinations on. Moreover, Students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Association (JNUSU) demanded a re-conduct of the exam and to form a committee to investigate the paper leak and take action accordingly.

NTA has been conducting by UGC-NET since December 2018 to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges. Now, the test also decides admission of candidates in PhD in all universities.

According to UGC proposal in 'Draft University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2022', 60 percent of the total seats of the academic year for a PhD programme shall be filled by NET and JRF qualified students and the remaining 40 percent shall be filled through the university and common entrance test.

Similarly, In December 2021, UGC Hindi paper was leaked. The authorities arrested CRPF constable after he forwarded the question paper to 156 students three hours before the exam began.
