UGC NET June 2026 registration last date on May 20; NTA advisory for applicants

UGC NET 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the registration for University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC NET 2026) on May 20. NTA will hold the UGC NET 2026 exam from June 22 to 30 for 87 subjects. Candidates who have not completed their UGC NET 2026 application form can do so on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

As per the UGC NET June exam 2026 schedule, candidates will get updates on exam city and admit card by June 10 and 15, respectively.

For the UGC NET June 2026 exam, candidates in the general category must pay an application fee of Rs 1,150. Applicants belonging to the General EWS and OBC-NCL categories are required to pay Rs 600, while candidates from other categories need to pay Rs 325.

Notably, UGC has added two new subjects – forestry and statistics – starting from the NET June 2026 exam.

UGC NET 2026 Application Form: NTA Advisory

Candidates who have not yet completed the UGC NET application 2026 process are once again advised to ensure the details listed below.

• Fill and submit the NET application form by paying the prescribed examination fee.
• Download and save the application confirmation page for future reference.

According to the official UGC NET 2026 NTA advisory, candidates are advised to check all the details filled in the application form, such as their name, parents’ name, social category, subject opted, scribe requirement status, etc., before making the fee payment, as no request for change will be accepted.

UGC NET 2026: How to apply?

The steps to apply for the UGC NET 2026 June exam are as follows.

Accessing the portal

• Visit the official UGC NET registration website.
• Click on the "Register or New Registration" option on the homepage.
• Read all instructions and guidelines displayed carefully.
• Select the declaration checkbox to accept instructions.
• Click "Click Here to Proceed". The system will redirect to DigiLocker authentication.

DigiLocker registration for new users

• Click on "Sign Up" option available.
• Enter mobile number and complete OTP verification.
• Select Identity Type (Aadhaar / PAN/Driving License).

Note: Registration is not Aadhaar-dependent. You may use any available identity option.

• Fill in details: Name, DOB, Gender, Username, and PIN.
• Click "Verify" and proceed to the authorization page.
• DigiLocker Login (Existing Users)
• Sign in using Mobile Number, PAN, or Driving License.
• Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and click on "Verify".

Consent and form submission

• On the authorisation page, click on the "Allow" or "Authorise" option to share details.
• Upon validation, the UGC NET registration form will open automatically.
• Fill in personal, contact, and educational details, set security questions, and enter CAPTCHA code.
• Review and click "Submit," and your application number will be generated.

NTA conducts the UGC NET exam twice a year in June and December for junior research fellowship and assistant professor positions, and also determines eligibility for PhD admissions in Indian universities and colleges.
