The National Testing Agency (NTA) has published the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) answer keys for 85 subjects today. The UGC NET cut-off trends over the past two years reflect sharp differences across major subjects for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), assistant professor, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) eligibility among reserved categories. For JRF, the UGC NET cut-offs were reduced for economics and education across all reserved categories. As per the last two years cut-off data, the qualifying marks for OBC-NCL were reduced from 198 to 184, while the EWS cut-off fell from 200 to 186 for economics subject.
English cut-offs also rose sharply, with the OBC (NCL) cut-off increasing from 99.07 to 176.
UGC NET cut-off marks for economics and education were reduced for assistant professor eligibility, while English again recorded a sharp increase, with the OBC (NCL) cut-off jumping from 91.32 to 150. For PhD eligibility, SC and ST cut-offs in economics declined, while both categories recorded an increase in psychology.
Factors determining UGC NET December 2025 cut-offs
The UGC NET December 2025 cut-offs will be determined by factors including the number of candidates, subject-wise performance, difficulty level, the normalisation process, and the availability of qualifying slots.
The NTA will declare the UGC NET December 2025 result along with subject-wise cut-offs 2025 for all three categories.
The UGC NET December 2025 provisional answer key is now available on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in, for the exams conducted from December 31 to January 7. A total of 7,35,592 candidates appeared over six exam days, with attendance recorded between 71% and 75%.
