University of Liverpool to set up campus in Bengaluru, will start admissions by next year

The campus of University of Liverpool will come up in Bengaluru, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed while officially handing over the Letter of Intent (LoI) to one of the top United Kingdom (UK) institutions.

“Liverpool is the fourth foreign university public announcing its presence in our country. The choice of destination is a fantastic place – Bengaluru – innovation hotspot of India today. I hope by next year, this time, Liverpool will take admission of Indian students. My expectation is that it should not only be a campus for Indian students but a real-time global university,” said Pradhan during the ceremonial event.

The education minister expressed joy while informing that on the very first day of receiving the LoI, the university has signed agreements with multinational companies in the country.

“I congratulate Liverpool University again. Your campus would be a global and innovative one. Taking forward your scientific temper, you must contribute to the global community and India has the ambition to produce global citizens.”

15 foreign university campuses by 2025-26

In Gujarat's GIFT city, he mentioned, two Australian universities have already started teaching – Wollongong University and Deakin University. From July 2025, the UK's first foreign university in India – Southampton University – is going to start functioning.
