UPESSC: Candidate with disability caught cheating using mobile phone in UP lecturer exam; police probe on

UP Lecturer Exam : The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has debarred a physically disabled candidate from the UPESSC lecturer recruitment exam after he was caught cheating using a mobile phone in the exam hall. UPESSC conducted the UP lecturer cadre recruitment exam on May 9 and 10 for more than 4.64 lakh students across 17 centres for 624 vacancies available.

The commission had earlier said that all exam centres will be monitored from the “AI-integrated control room”, with special observers appointed in each district.

According to the official UPESSC statement, on May 10, shift 2 exam, Krishna Pal, son of Hukum Singh, a disabled candidate, was writing the chemistry exam at Ismail National Women's PG College, Meerut, with a crutch.

The AI control room installed in the Commission noticed a candidate engaging in suspicious activity, following which, the centre head was immediately informed, and the candidate was searched.

UP Lecturer Exam Cheating: Probe underway

UPESSC further added that the candidate had brought a mobile phone hidden in the upper cover of his crutch, which was switched on during the exam.

After the suspicious activity was noticed, the centre head immediately informed the local police, following which, the Meerut police detained the candidate and registered an FIR against him under sections 4, 13 and 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Unfair Means in Public Examinations Act 2024.

The case is being investigated by the Meerut Police, and the investigation is being done by the STF.

“For the purity of the Commission's upcoming examination, intensive monitoring will be done through the control room using advanced technology so that the use of any unfair means can be completely prevented in the future,” the official UPESSC statement said.
