The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission said reservation for assistant teacher vacancies will be calculated school-wise and not on the combined total of 17,735 posts.
The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has issued a clarification on the reservation system for 17,735 Assistant Teacher (Graduate Level) posts advertised on October 23, 2026.
The commission said reservation for UPESSC Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026 is calculated separately for each school, not on the combined total of vacancies across all schools.
The notice, dated October 27, came after misleading claims about the reservation process for the recruitment were circulated on social media and other platforms. The commission has urged candidates and the public not to believe or share unverified information.

UPESSC Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026: How is reservation calculated
According to the UPESSC, the Directorate of Secondary Education provided the vacancy details for non-government aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. The information was compiled school-wise, subject-wise and category-wise, including reservation details.
The commission explained that each non-government aided secondary school is treated as a separate unit for recruitment purposes. The management of the respective school is responsible for appointing teachers. Therefore, reservation is determined according to the applicable rules and the number of vacancies in each school, rather than by combining all posts reported by the Directorate.
The state government has also shared a clarification on the issue through its official social media handle, E-Gyan Ganga-U.P., the commission said. Candidates applying for the 17,735 TGT vacancies have been advised to rely on official notices for recruitment-related information. The commission has specifically asked the public not to forward misleading claims circulating on social media or through other sources.
Candidates should check the commission’s official website for further information about the recruitment process and applicable reservation rules.
