UPSC prelims 2021 postponed due to coronavirus; New date announced

The Union Public Service Commission has announced that the UPSC 2021 civil services prelims exam has been postponed due to COVID-19.

The UPSC conducts the civil services examination every year for recruitment to various positions. On March 4, the notice for the UPSC civil services and the application form was released. The notice also mentioned that the last date to register for the exam was March 24.

Last year, the UPSC civil services prelims exam was scheduled for May 31 and was postponed to October 4. The mains exam for UPSC civil services 2020 has been completed, however, the interview round is yet to take place.
Details about vacancies to be filled through UPSC Civil Services Exam
According to the UPSC civil services notification, the exam will be conducted to fill at least 712 vacant positions. There has been a decline in the total number of vacancies for which the exam will be conducted as compared to last year. There were a total of 796 vacancies for which the UPSC civil service exam 2020 was held.
UPSC Civil Services: Selection Process
The selection process for the UPSC civil services consists of three stages. The first stage is the preliminary examination, followed by mains and then the interview. Candidates who qualify all three stages of the selection process are offered the appointment letter and have to undergo training.
