GORAKHPUR: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday inaugurated newly-constructed boys' and girls' hostels at the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath State AYUSH University, the state's first AYUSH university, and directed officials to expedite the completion of an auditorium. The boys' hostel has been named after Adityanath's guru, Mahant Avaidyanath, while the girls' hostel has been named "Rapti".
The chief minister also handed over room keys to MD-Ayurveda students. During his visit to Gorakhpur, Adityanath inspected the hostel facilities and instructed officials to install mesh screens on windows, ensure high standards of cleanliness and provide quality food in the hostel mess, according to an official statement.
He also interacted with the MD-Ayurveda students staying in the hostels and described higher education in Ayurveda as an excellent opportunity, wishing them success in their careers. The chief minister later reviewed the progress of an auditorium under construction on the university campus.
After being briefed by officials of the executing agency, he directed them to speed up the work, while ensuring quality, and complete the project at the earliest without any negligence. Vice-Chancellor K Ramachandra Reddy welcomed the chief minister during the programme.
The Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath State AYUSH University is among Adityanath's flagship projects. Its foundation stone was laid on August 28, 2021, by the then President Ram Nath Kovind, while President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the university on July 1, 2025.
