Uttarakhand schools shut in three districts in view of heavy rainfall

Uttarakhand School Closed: All government and private schools from Classes 1 to 12 in Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi are closed today.
The Uttarakhand government has announced school closure in Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi districts in view of heavy rainfall. All government, non-government, and private schools from Classes 1 to 12, along with Anganwadi centers, in these districts will remain closed today, August 30.
According to the weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department, Dehradun, an alert has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall/thunder accompanied by lightning or rainfall with intense to very intense spells at some places in the three Uttarakhand districts today.
In view of the safety of the students in the districts, a holiday has been declared in all schools under the districts. The government has asked the chief education officers to follow the order and warned of action in case of non-compliance.
“In view of the weather forecast / warning issued by the Meteorological Department and the possibility of the water level of rivers and streams in the district increasing due to continuous rainfall in the district, on the basis of the powers and functions conferred in Section 30 (2) of the Disaster Management Act 2005, keeping in mind the safety of the students, a one-day holiday is declared in all government, semi-government and private schools (all educational institutions running from class 1 to 12) and all Anganwadi centers of Rudraprayag district on August 30, 2025,” said the government in an official order.

Moreover, an orange alert has been issued in the Uttarkashi district. The administration found it inevitable to take necessary measures for the safety of school students in view of the increase in water in rivers and streams, waterlogging and affecting footpaths and roads and the mitigation and management of possible disasters.
