Use NowNEW DELHI: The Supreme Court is likely to hear today the plea seeking postponement of the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2023 exam by two to three months, according to the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA). While the Telangana High Court dismissed a plea to postpone the postgraduate medical entrance exam and asked the National Medical Commission (NMC) to reconsider the exam date, aspirants filed a separate petition in the top court . Students have been demanding the postponement owing to the huge gap between the exam date and counselling.

“If the FMGE exam can be rescheduled 15 days before the exam due to elections, NEET PG can and should be postponed considering the genuine cause, " the FAIMA national chairman had said in a tweet.
A group of aspirants posted a petition on the website Change.org seeking the postponement of NEET PG exam. Over 7,000 candidates signed the online petition . The Indian Medical Association (IMA) also asked the union health minister to postpone NEET PG 2023 by two to three months.
On February 10, Union minister of health and family welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, told the Lok Sabha that NEET PG 2023 will not be postponed . The decision was taken to avoid further delay in the exam and counselling process caused due to COVID-19.
“The government has recently extended the internship cut-off date to August 11, 2023, so that no students across the country are ineligible to appear for the exam. Secondly, students were informed about five months earlier that the NEET PG exam 2023 will be held on March 5,” the health minister informed the Lok Sabha speaker.
