NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) partnered with MathWorks to launch workshop aimed at training instructors in EV design. This initiative aims to train 100 educators in the model-based design approach for Electric Vehicle (EV) development. The programme will include five-day workshops held at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, and COEP Technological University, Pune.

These workshops aim to provide educators in core engineering fields with practical skills related to EV design and development. According to the official website, this supports AICTE's effort to align engineering education with the needs of the green mobility sector.

Background wave

Launching the program, AICTE Chairman TG Sitharam emphasized the necessity of incorporating industry-standard practices into the curriculum to equip students for the changing demands of the EV sector. He stated, “Bharat cannot become a global leader without aligning core engineering courses with emerging mega-trends like electric vehicles. Collaborations with industry leaders like MathWorks are crucial for equipping our educators with the latest EV design techniques, thereby narrowing the current skill gap between industry and academia. This will prepare our country to meet this demand with a skilled workforce”.

Chandan Pramanik, the Education Director at MathWorks, also attended the event. He stated that this partnership aims to ensure educators are equipped to impart essential EV skills to students, thereby preparing India to meet the increasing demand for engineers in this field.

Focus on testing EV systems using MATLAB and Simulink

The workshops will focus on fundamental aspects of modeling, simulating, and testing EV systems using MATLAB and Simulink. Participants will gain expertise in modeling EV powertrains, batteries, motors, controllers, and vehicle dynamics. The programme also includes training on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and rapid prototyping. Real-world EV projects will be showcased through case studies and demonstrations, enhancing the learning experience.

AICTE Workshop on EV Design: Registration details

The workshops are available to technical faculty members from AICTE-approved institutions who currently teach or plan to teach courses related to EVs. Registration deadline is July 07, 2024, and interested educators can register via the AICTE website.
