Download NowNEW DELHI: The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced that from AIBE XVI 2021 onwards no books, notes or study material will be allowed in the examination hall. Candidates can, however, carry Bare Acts, without notes. Bare Acts are the exact text of a particular enactment by legislature, without interpretation.

“This is to notify that AIBE-XVI onwards no books, notes or study material will be allowed in the examination hall. Candidates can only carry Bare Acts without notes,” the BCI notification read.
Previously, All India Bar Examination was held as an open book exam. Candidates were allowed to carry sturdy materials to the exam centre. The BCI’s move to restrict candidates from using books while appearing for the exam may make the exam tougher.

About AIBE XV(16) 2021
The council has announced that AIBE (16) 2021 will be conducted on March 21, 2021. The application form was released on December 26 and can be submitted till February 21. After passing the exam, candidates will be awarded "Certificate of Practice" by the BCI. As per BCI, the AIBE sets a minimum benchmark for admission to the practice of law.
It assesses the candidate’s analytical abilities and understanding of the basic knowledge of the law. Also, as AIBE is a qualifying exam to study law, candidates are required to score at least 40% marks (SC and ST candidates will have to score at least 35% marks).
