The District Basic Education Officer (BEO) has declared a holiday for schools today in Bareilly due to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ padyatra. The decision has triggered reactions on social media, with users questioning the need for schools if academic activities could be suspended for political events.
According to the official notification, a holiday is declared today in all council, primary, upper primary, aided, recognised Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSC) schools from nursery to Class 8 in the city area of Bareilly.
A social media user, reacting to the government’s order on school closure, wrote: “I don't understand why they are closing school for one day , what is need of school, it should be closed permanently.”

'Politics weighing heavier even on children's books'
While, another user said that the government should shut down all the schools , anyways it will not provide jobs for students. The move was to maintain traffic control, avoid excessive crowds, and maintain law and order, the notice read.
“Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Shri Chhatrapal Gangwar, 25th Lok Sabha, Bareilly, has informed through a letter dated 02.11.2026 that the Bharatiya Janata Party is organizing a Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy Padyatra in Bareilly district on 03.11.2026, with an expected participation of 25,000 to 50,000 people,” the notice said.
Another user said that no political party's rally can be more important than children's education. Closing schools up to class 8 for BJP's rally is an insult to students, parents, and teachers, the user added.
“It's not right to have such arrogance of power that electoral politics starts weighing heavier even on children's books,” a user said.
The government schools are for building children's future, not for gathering crowds and making arrangements for any political party, another user wrote.
