Bihar Budget 2022: Government allocates 16.5% to education department

NEW DELHI: Bihar government has allocated 16.5% to the education department in Budget 2022, Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad announced during the budget session on February 28.

“Today addressed the press conference on the General Budget for the year 2022-23. In the general budget for the year 2022-23, special focus has been given on 6 sources namely: health, education, investment in industry and industry, agriculture and allied sector, infrastructure (rural and urban) and welfare (of different sections),” Prasad tweeted.

Prasad said that the government has allocated a good amount in the budget for the development of infrastructure and improvement of quality of education. He said several innovative reforms have already been made in the education system.

The minister said that around 6,258 secondary schools would get infrastructure upgradation with the help of renovation and construction at a cost of Rs 7,530 crore. He also said that the posts of headmasters (principals) have been sanctioned in primary and secondary schools and they will be appointed soon.

Meanwhile, the Bihar assembly on Monday sought a reply from the DGP and the state Home Secretary on improper behaviour of two junior police officers towards Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha recently which has been deemed to be in violation of protocol and privileges of members of the House.

The action was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee and the House was apprised of the same by the Speaker himself. The Speaker, who represents Lakhisarai constituency, had a run in with the two officers - a Deputy SP and an SHO - when he took up the matter of arrest of two social workers there who have been accused of violating prohibition. The meeting was convened after opposition members' rumpus inside the House over three issues forced adjournment of proceedings for about an hour.
