NEW DELHI: The Bihar state government has decided to discontinue the Secondary Teachers Eligibility Test (STET) as the centre is regularly conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), the director of Bihar Primary Education (BPE) said in a letter to the Bihar School Examination Committee (BSEC). The recruitment of teachers in Bihar for the secondary and higher secondary levels will be held through the CTET exam from now on.
The Bihar STET exam was conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) to recruit teachers for Classes 9 to 12. It included two papers, the first paper was for those who want to become secondary school teachers and the second paper is for those who want to teach at the higher secondary level. The same exam was conducted to select physical education teachers too.

In the notification, the BSEB has been told that the CTET is conducted regularly across the country by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Therefore, the education department has decided not to conduct the Bihar STET exam in the state.
