BITS Pilani Hyderabad hosts 2026 convocation, over 1,500 graduates conferred degrees

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Hyderabad campus, hosted its 2026 convocation, conferring degrees on more than 1,500 graduates. The ceremony brought together graduating students, their families, faculty members, alumni, industry leaders, and distinguished guests, who came together to celebrate the achievements of the class of 2026.

The convocation was chaired by V Ramgopal Rao , vice chancellor of BITS Pilani, and attended by Dharmarajan Sriram, director in charge, BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus. Hari Menon, co-founder of BigBasket, was present as the chief guest.

Of the total degrees awarded, over 1,200 were first degree programmes, nearly 200 were higher degree programmes, and more than 100 were PhD degrees.

BITS Pilani Hyderabad Convocation 2026

Addressing the graduating class, Dharmarajan Sriram encouraged students to uphold the values of integrity, innovation, resilience, and lifelong learning while contributing to society through their professional careers.

Chief guest Hari Menon urged graduates to build their careers on integrity, hard work, empathy, and continuous learning, adding that lasting success is shaped by character and the ability to learn from experience.

Among the first degree graduates, Archith Casheekar received the gold medal, Alok Desai won the silver medal, and Shreya Kunjankumar Mehta was awarded the bronze medal. Among the higher degree graduates, Fahma Khadeeja, Kota Rohith Raj and Kasala Nidheesh received gold medals, while Harichithra C was awarded silver.

Velmurugan K, Ronanki Suresh, and Shovon Sengupta were recognised with the best outstanding Ph.D. thesis awards in Science, Engineering, and Non-STEM disciplines, respectively.

BITS Pilani: Research, placements, innovation

BITS Pilani Hyderabad convocation 2026 highlighted several achievements from the 2025-26 academic year. The campus secured 116 sponsored research projects worth Rs 37.90 crore, while faculty members published 1,968 research papers across multiple disciplines.

The institute also reported strong placement outcomes, with over 750 students already placed and a median annual salary of Rs 20 lakh.
